A recent incident

A very popular singer was booked to sing for an event. A super band was booked as well for the event. This singer sends two of his tracks by WhatsApp for the band to go through the parts. On the day of the event, this singer comes drunk and call out songs and was upset after sending the songs the band is not ready. He announces over the microphone and informs the audience that the band is not ready with his songs.

However the band has rehearsed the songs he sent and as the singer concerned is drunk, he has forgotten the songs he sent for rehearsals. after getting down the band leader shows the singer the songs he sent through WhatsApp and found he had erred. 

Because of this kind the band decides never to give him accompaniment hereafter. It is very important to know that guest singers charge a lot of money to sing at events but the bands are backing them without any charge. Hereafter, all bands should insist that a singer pays for rehearsals if they need any backing on stage. If all bands decide, this will solve a major problem in the music industry in Sri Lanka.

Also all bands should refrain from backing drunk singers whether they are professionals or amateurs.
