I NEED A LIVE BAND

I Need a Band

I find this question to be very appropriate as we look around the music field all over the world. Okay you need a band, what is it for?
1. Wedding.
2. Homecoming.
3. Birthday party.
4. Corporate event.
5. Product promotion.
6. Dinner dance.
7. Concert.
8. Sing along.
9. Open air show.
10.Christmas party.
11. Sports event.
12. Awards night.

The list could go on and on.

Before you find the correct entertainment for your event, you need to answer a few questions all by yourself or otherwise, the whole function will be a mess. Ask your self;

1. How musical am I?
2. Do I know the music taste of my invitees?
3. Do I know how to identify a good band by their repertoire, sound quality, behavior, attire, communication skills, and punctuality?
4. How many live bands I see for a year?

If you are a person who wears your dancing shoes once a year, you are not suitable to find a band for a function. You need consultation from an event management company or someone similar. If you are unaware of your audience, you need to consult someone who knows about it. If you cannot answer the point number 3 properly you need to consult someone who is well qualified to do that. If you are not a person who gets a chance to watch at least 8 to 10 bands a year, you need to consult someone who does so.

As we have mentioned 12 kinds of functions above, the band that you select should be performing at least 10 similar functions a year for you to consider for a proper selection. You do not book a band because you know someone in the band nor you don't book a band because they are cheaper than most.

Tender procedures in selecting bands do not apply at all as most of the time the lowest quotation comes from B and C grades of bands. There again it depends on your budget and what you want for your invitees.

Therefore when you need a band for a particular function, get their numbers and call them first. Ask all the questions you have about the music. ask them how long they have been together. Discuss the repertoire and their price for the function. If there are any backing of artists involved ask them whether they are familiar.

Once you select the band you want to make a tentative booking and confirm the same within a week by paying an advance. If any clauses should be put on paper you could do that too.
